New Name: OKC Disc Dogs

Thanks to everyone who submitted new names. Since none of the names submitted emerged as a favorite, we decided to stick with the name we already have a domain name for. We are still a part of OKPaws K9 Sports Club, but we will be competing under the name of OKC Disc Dogs next season.

Second Chance 2011

The 22nd annual Second Chance dog days turned out to be a success in our event despite a rocky start.  I received a call from Chris Myers that his wife Diana had gotten bit by some nasty ants and was on their way to the clinic to get that taken care of…They did make to the event before the start and everything was OK.   Once Eric, Mark and Myself got the field set up, dogs unloaded etc etc, we started to throw some practice Frisbees and saw right off it was going to be a rough day as the wind was very erratic and unpredictable.  All 3 of us struggled to make throws over 30 yards.  But better was to come.  We had 8 entries in the Amateur class and 12 entries in the Pro division (thanks to Lee and Eric)
Entry fees were donated to Kay Stout the director of 2nd Chance.   This would be a great place to pick up a future disc dog just in case you might want to join us in the future. A single round scoring record was broken and then tied in the second round by a different team, and a Total score of Toss n Catch was also broken so needless to say the teams did adjust to the conditions and started throwing the plastic a little better.   Demo’s were done for the crowd by Eric and Zef, if you haven’t seen Zef. he is the most handsome Border Collie I’ve ever seen.  Lee Fairchild and Chris Myers with Dora in a Pairs routine that was almost a flawless performance with only 1 drop and that was the last throw of the 2 minute routine. Chris Myers with Petey the JRT that always entertains the crowds and last but not least the 2010 Micro-dog World champion Gracie did her thing and as always was on top of her game…A note that was interesting, 3 dogs that I am aware of that competed  are over 9 years old, Buddy, Rudy and General, so don’t give up on the senior dogs…. scores are available in the results section.
